Maven MI-920 PRIMER

The MI-920 is a solvent-based primer that helps UV ink hold onto difficult surfaces such as glass, metal and polypropylene. It is applied with a lint-free wipe or a fine spray, flashes off in 5–10 minutes, and the surface should be printed within 24 hours. Coverage is 8–12 m² per litre; more primer does not improve adhesion, it leaves a soft interlayer that reduces it. Adhesion is verified by ISO 2409 cross-cut and tape test. Ventilation, gloves and eye protection are mandatory.

• GripBase Adhesion Bridge — a silane binder bonds at one end to the inorganic surface (glass, ceramic, anodised aluminium) and at the other to the acrylate network of the UV ink. The bond is chemical rather than mechanical, which is why it survives wet and thermally cycled service.
• FlashSet Window — the surface is ready to print 5–10 minutes after application and stays ready for 24 hours. If the surface is touched after that window it must be primed again; a fingerprint on its own is enough to break adhesion.
• ThinFilm Single Pass — 8–12 m² per litre, one pass in one direction. Extra primer does not add adhesion; it leaves an uncured soft layer and the print lifts with it. If you can see wet gloss, you have used too much.
• CrossCut Verification — run an ISO 2409 cross-cut and tape test on every new surface, with GT0–GT1 as the acceptance limit. Repeat it 24 hours after printing, because final UV adhesion only settles as the print completes its post-cure.
